DSCSSRL is currently recruiting for a dedicated Permanent Carpenter to join a reputable UK-based shipyard. Our client is a private company with a close-knit team of between 1 and 10 employees, specialising in shipbuilding and maintenance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced carpenters to contribute their skills within a dynamic maritime environment, working across various sites within the UK. The position offers a competitive salary in the range of £18 to £21 per hour, reflecting the candidate’s experience and expertise.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures, primarily using timber and other materials relevant to shipbuilding.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely project completion.
- Observe health and safety regulations at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
- Participate in routine quality checks to ensure work meets specified standards.
- Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably within a shipyard or maritime environment.
- Excellent understanding of technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good health and safety awareness, including knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Reliable, motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship.
